I use color and geometric forms to optically delineate two and three dimensional space. I am using shapes and pure color to work against the tendency to see depth. Instead of a forced perspective that gives that illusion, I explore a two dimensional painting that
optically confuses three-dimensional forms.
In my
carvings I explore form and structure within a specific format. In my
hammered copper I explore the same forms in a different material. This work combines direct methods of my
wood carving and metal work that can be directly related to bronze castings that I had created 10 years ago.
